Be In BN To Use 'Dacing' Logo, Says Masing

The United People's Party (UPP) and Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) should be in the state Barisan Nasional (BN) if they want to use the 'dacing' logo in the 11th state election next year.

Mincing no words, Sarawak Senior Minister Tan Sri James Masing said they should either rejoin the Sarawak United People's Party and Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party (SPDP) - their former parties - or contest using their own logos.

"To me it is simple. It is either to join the parties of which you have come from before or use your own logos and not take a ride on BN's popularity," said Masing when opening the Malam Kebudayaan Pesta Kanowit Kanowit last night.

He said if they did not want to join the parties, they could at least have the honour to contest using their own logos, like some former state BN representatives who were not re-nominated to defend their seats in previous state elections.

The Sarawak Land Development Minister and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president reminded the people that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, unlike the latter's predecessors, had done much for the state's development.

He cited the construction of the Kanowit Bridge, as an example.

Masing said the bridge was part of the Kanowit-Song-Kapit road project which would link Kanowit town and the Sungai Poi area, adding that it would benefit a lot of people upon completion.

He said Kanowit town had grown over the years and enjoyed better development due to the tireless efforts of Machan State Assemblyman Datuk Gramong Juna.
